The Hunt

The Sika Stag Hunt is our flagship experience - a focused, four-day guided stalk on private Wicklow ground. It's designed for hunters who are serious about real free-range stalking, whether they arrive with years behind them or are still building their craft.

Sika stags in Wicklow are known for strength and stamina. Autumn stags (August to October) are vocal during the rut, their calls carrying across valleys. Winter and spring stags are silent and elusive, requiring careful stalking and patience. Stag quality varies seasonally; autumn typically delivers more consistent opportunities for mature animals.

You'll work with an experienced guide across authentic free-range terrain. Days begin before dawn and continue into evening, covering significant ground and adapting to conditions. The focus is on stalking craft—reading sign, interpreting wind, moving decisively when opportunities arise. Depending on conditions and objective, selected high-seat sessions may also be used as part of the hunt plan.

What To Expect

Wicklow produces strong, mature Sika stags. Trophy quality varies by season and age class, and we're always straight with you about what's realistic. Good animals are here - but this is wild, free-range ground, and that's the point.

Terrain ranges from moderate to demanding. Hunts involve walking over uneven ground, often across slopes and forestry edges. A reasonable level of fitness is beneficial.
